Easter Eggs - Qualified Perceptions

Easter Eggs
There was Easter, and there were Eggs. Yay! As is traditional, we had Too Much Candy, and as is newly traditional, we also had Dice. Dice seem popular even amongst the non-twinkies. We hid eggs around the bike path this year; at this time of year, it's probably even sparser than the Ibbetson Street park was, but it feels more traditional to me than hiding them in the house. Kith brought bagels (two dozen appears to have been the Right Number - my estimate of Fifteen was way low), and chenoameg brought quiche, so it wasn't All Sugar. More yay!

Traditions are nice. Silly traditions that involve interacting with your friends or family are even better. Christmas in particular is festooned with traditions, some old, and some new, but it's the ones like "Mom tries to hide the ugly pink face ornaments and the rest of the family tries to put them at the very top of the tree" that make me smile most.

(Hmm. Maybe next year we'll institute handicapping, to keep quillion from finding all the eggs himself...)

Current Mood: sleepy sleepy

There's always assigning him the pink eggs with prime numbers...

ringrose suggests a five count between egg grabs.

I wonder if your back yard would have as many hiding places as the bike path? Possibly more...

A five count seems like a better solution; the act of finding an egg, checking it, and putting it back may result in the handicapped person ending up with fewer eggs, but it doesn't actually let other people search for more eggs. And different people could have different pause numbers.

Though by "handicapping" I also meant letting the people who hadn't gotten any (or many) eggs the previous year get a head start, so they can find some. :)

(Hmm. For "different pause numbers" you could also increment the count by the number of eggs you have. After the first egg, cover your eyes and count one second. After the fifth, count five seconds...)

The Easter Bunny handicapped out hunt this year. We have the opposite problem: one hunter significantly slower than the others.

The Easter Bunny solved this problem by bringing two types of eggs, solids and stripes. Approximately 20% of the eggs had stripes. The striped eggs were hidden much less well than the others. Clone #3 was allowed to pick up any egg he found and the other two were specifically not allowed to pick up the striped ones.

These rules achieved the desired results: Every hunter got a fair number of eggs.

Trying to to think how to reverse this solution to solve the opposite problem. Maybe hide the striped eggs extra-well, and quillion is only allowed to find striped eggs?
