Yup, it's single crochet. The pattern is on Lion Brand's web site and free, though they seem to have recently changed it so you have to register to get in.

I'm mostly a knitting-only person; I don't know anything beyond sc and dc, and I can't crochet without looking the way I can knit without looking. :) But this is all plain sc, so I could manage it.

Ok, who wouldn't want one of these? I'm going to have to find that pattern and see if I can make some for my girls to toss around. Especially if it's easy crochet. That I can almost handle. :)
