House Hunting - Qualified Perceptions

House Hunting
Okay, I don't want to look at any more houses until we've gotten ready to scream and leap. There was this nice house, with a lovely kitchen, and a decadent bathroom, and lots of rooms... and now someone else gets it.

I don't need any more Houses that Got Away, especially I tend to remember things nicer than they actually were (I think this is related to the reason anyone has more than one kid). The Big House on Summer Street has magnified to mansion-size in my retrospective imagination.

Still, it was a good proof of concept, that there are reasonable sized single-family houses, and not just condos and two-and-three-families.

Current Mood: sad wistful

What's a single-family house? 4 bedrooms?

The one that just got away was 3 good-sized bedrooms, 2 more rooms that could be smaller bedrooms or something else. 3 is the minimum.
(Well, there are single-families with fewer than that. But those don't count as reasonably sized).

While walking down Highland Ave tonight I noticed that one of the nearly manions most of the way to the High School is for sale. That would be good for looking and not-buying, I would think.

Far be it from me

To encourage being dragged to more houses, but I didn't really think that one was scream-and-leap-worthy. It was nice, and I'd live there, but not that much better than at least two others we've seen. (I must admit, for actual house, I still like the two family near Davis the best. But I think I don't-want-to-be-a-landlord enough that it loses.)

Well, *deciding* not to leap is fine. That's a decision, rather than having the decision mooted. :)
