Easter - Qualified Perceptions

Easter
tirinian and I had our traditional Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday. As always, we overstocked on candy (especially jelly beans), but the hunt itself was fun. The more recent addition of "bagels at Kith's while we hide the eggs" is a good one, especially as the more eggs we aquire, the longer it takes to hide them.

It's funny, though - people are still very amused to hunt for eggs, but the proportion of people who eventually leave all their candy behind is increasing. That certainly makes sense to not want so much candy as we did when we were kids, but it's an odd quirk of the psyche, to hunt so hard for something you don't actually want.

mjperson mentions the little girl who was watching enviously from a nearby porch. Oops. Last year there were a couple of little kids playing in the park, and we invited them (by way of their parents) to hunt too, but said parents declined due to the kids having gotten quite enough candy already. So we didn't mean to taunt her, we just didn't see her until most of the eggs were found.

Current Mood: good good

Accident

I only left my candy behind by accident! It's in a baggie by the computer I think. I'll come back and love it and squeeze it, and take it home with me and call it George, if it stays around long enough for me to get some mythical free time. Honest.

Chocolate eggs

I took home all the candy from my eggs (except the bits I traded to other people for yummier candy ... silly people who don't like mint!) and, ummm, have now eaten all of it. The chocolate cadbury eggs are much nicer than the regular ones.

I was aiming for about 1/3 of each of the cadbury chocolate, caramel, and normal, but then when we decided to use the little eggs as stand-in for cadbury eggs, I had to run out and get another dozen, and Star only had the egg-colored ones. :)

I heard of an easter egg hunt recently that managed to only have candy in 1/10 of the eggs. They put tiny fun toys in the rest. But we have a Diddams out here which makes it more convenient.

And wow, you do cadbury eggs? deluxe.

When I was a kid it wasn't candy in the eggs, it was nickels, dimes, and quarters. (and one dollar egg for each - they were always the most sneakily hidden...) The rattling noise the eggs made was fun too.
