Tree
This tree is about a block away as the crow flies, longer to walk because the bike path is in the way. I can't quite believe that it exists in this particular nigh-urban area - this isn't an urban tree. This is a tree that belongs in the Shire, or the center of an enchanted clearing, or possibly trying to kill people at Hogwarts. It's awe-inspiring even to walk by.

It's a weeping willow, no?

I'm not a good tree expert, but I don't know anything else that dangles like that. :)

That is a weeping willow, but there do exist weeping beeches, which are also very impressive. To confuse matters, they come in several different leaf shapes and colors.

They tend to only get planted on really big properties, so I don't know of any around here, though.

Google finds a claim of a weeping birch on BU campus; I can't vouch for it personally, but the picture looks plausible.

Oops, I didn't read carefully. That's BYU's web page that shows a weeping birch.

Bring some hot cocoa by. No promises, but perhaps you might entice me down out of its branches.

There are some surprisingly lovely willows in the area. That looks like a particularly nice one.
