More paint has been applied. The wisteria is done (and it's particularly impressive when I stand next to it on the downslope, because it makes it clear that I had to use Magic Levitation Powers. [info]harrock is jealous that I've gotten new shticks), and I've been starting the edge flowers.
pictures, but they're just thumbnails )

For those following other memes (paraphrased):
Me: Bah. I'm not sure I like the little flowers.
[info]harrock: It's still a good project. I'm very impressed. It's pretty and I'm proud of you.
Me: Um... I'm not depressed, I just want to do it right. Oh, er, I see - "words of affirmation" is my lowest score.

I seem to have neglected to mention that [info]harrock and I went to visit my family in California last weekend. My niece Amelia is still the Most Adorable Child Ever, and any claims to the contrary will be simply ignored.
The new niece Isabelle is still too much of a very small baby to be exciting (6 weeks), though she does seem to have the same easygoing nature (for a baby) that Amelia did. While Amelia looks very much like Jess and I did when small, Isabelle seems to look much more like Dave. I suppose that's fair. However, I have no pictures of Isabelle 'cause she had a rash from the heat and Jess didn't want it memorialized.

My sister and I were raised in traditional suburbia; I've ended up a pretty solid city mouse, while she's gone much more country. She's raising chickens! Still, of all my family, she's the one who seems like she's closest to the same species as me.

Also on the trip, we saw some old family friends and visited Dad & Jody at Clear Lake, but that's harder to blithely summarize, so I won't.

Also, more stairwell. I'm sure most of you aren't nearly as excited about this painting thing as I am, and I begin to suspect that it's going to be a little overboard by the time it's done. But it's the silly floor, so over the top won't hurt much, and it's easy enough to turn it all white again if we get tired of it.

As promised, more pictures.

(Follow the first link for more stair details).

The stencils for the wall-garden arrived from England astonishingly fast, but woe, the wisteria is ever so slightly too wide. I'll see if they can shrink it (they advertise that they can, but I don't know at what prices), or consider faking the last quarter inch of leaf and vine.

So, I've been slaving away in the dust mines, painting the stairwell. You may remember the old stair to the third floor, as seen here:
[info]harrock drywalled it, then I painted it white. But white is boring, so now it's getting frivolized into a paint garden. The ceiling got sponged with light blue "sky"
and the treads got painted light brown, with darker brown spongies.
The plain light brown would probably be fine for a nice sensible stairwell, without getting too silly, but the eventual plan is to add some stencils on the risers and along the edges, like so:
Some imagination must be used in that last one. :) More pictures when the stencils finally start going on.
