Busy Day

Yesterday was one of the two traditional Busiest Days of the Year, the day after about 7000 accounts are deactivated (graduated students, employees who are gone, last year's summer conferences, etc.). The other Busiest Day is the day after the warning notices get sent out - that day generates, probably, more email, but yesterday generates more unhappy phone calls from people who are shocked, shocked they tell you, that their accounts went away after they stopped being employed by MIT six months back. (As far as I can tell, the amount of time you get to keep your account after leaving is extraordinarily generous, in comparison to most other places).

Of course, deactivating one of the Centauri GMs over game break did send maverickseraph into a panicked frenzy. :)

Then, in addition to all of the deactivation phone calls, I ended up giving two different nearly-an-hour Mailman talks. Which seems to have been poorly thought out timing on my part, a month ago.

Not Spam!

For people at MIT who have been getting email notifications from LJ for various postings, be warned that they're currently getting quite high spam scores. You may want to put "lj_notify@livejournal.com" in your allow list.
